It only worked when he did extra verification. Because he quickly released that a tripcode wasn't enough because anyone can just generate it over some period of time.
There are a handful of other trips that are still banned but it's a different story entirely, it was more of just a troll-related thing.
I'm almost entirely positive there is some other way to get around the banned tripcodes, and OP has found it.
