Christians are taught this is the exact word of god, and thats about as far as they will ever go with their curiosity about other texts, or human knowledge as a whole. The reality is the concept of the firmament goes all the way back to the Enuma Elish 4500BC with the conquering of Tiamat.
You need to stop trying to teach. When you find a flat earther, they are people that distrust the world but do not have the capability of untangling it on their own. Christians are generally taught at a young age to attack any differing view. Its their cool kids club, and it has rules, or you get frowned upon. None of our weather effects, the tides from the moon, any5jing involving what we calculate with astronomy could be explained by a flat earth concept. If you were to ask one of these people to describe the world they literally cant.
