>>22082986you can use any tobacco! break up/unroll a cig and sprinkle it, or pinch out of a bag of rolling/pipe tobacco. in the native american tradition they typically fold it up in little prayer ties made of different colored fabric that they tie onto a string, saying a prayer when you make each one
when offering tobacco, do whatever's in your heart, but typically i like to start by thanking God the creator or spirit, then the spirits of the four directions as well as father sky and mother earth, as well as all the spirits of living beings and nature, and finally by honoring the spirit of the specific place i'm offering it (like a tree, waterfall, cool rock, etc etc)
different people have different traditions but the prayer i follow, which you are welcome to use and is adaptable to any spiritual tradition is:
west: expressing gratitude for the past and the period immediately before the prayer, and leaving behind anything that no longer serves me (like the setting sun)
north: asking for guidance towards truth and knowing the right thing to do, following the right path (like the north star)
east: expressing hope for the new day, imagining what i'd like to happen in the future and how i can bring a better world into being (like the rising sun)
south: praying for health, balance, growth, nurturing
above: father sky, the male spirit, the spark or sperm that starts the growth
below: mother earth, the female nurturing substrate in which growth occurs
within: spirit, all Life, all living beings and all relatives, all my relations, mitakuye oyasin.
