just yesterday in a kanye west discord server i was in but wasn't too active in, some gay mod made an announcement to report kanye's website to shopify because he's selling a t-shirt with a swastika on it. i saw people reacting to the call to report with fire emojis, and i reacted to it with an eyeroll emoji and thumbs down emoji because that's lame and narc as fuck, and some mod permabanned me, just because of an emoji reaction. the "echochambers" meme is a real thing. every site is now just a box for a certain type of person. most 4chan boards became far-right, twitter became right wing, most discord servers are left-wing, reddit is left-wing... competing ideas can't be shared and debated to develop new conclusions. and if you're, for example, conservative by most standards but are gay, you're fucked and don't belong anywhere. or if you don't care about politics. it can be alienating.
