>>22117767No, there has been a dramatic change in the west in the last 30-40 years, In U.S. it goes back further, Americans lost a lot of their major cities in the 70s and 80s. Suggesting it's some sort of rose tinted retrospect shows someone to be a toad down a well. And Zoomers have no idea what has been lost. What it's like to have your own cities, nice places to be, great atmosphere, safe, cultured, relaxed.
I have no romanticisation of the 00s or 10s, I was just a little kid in the 90s but the 90s was a different world. I remember what it was like going around France, Italy, Low Countries. Such younger population, so many kids, the way people interacted was so different with a sense of trust and happiness; what you have in some small town in the west of a sense of trust and safety and life was widespread default. Being in major cities was as comfy as being in your own living room.
By the 00s places like Paris, Amsterdam, London, were completely different. Atmosphere rank with menace, angry people, sad people, no one trusts one another, night life dead etc. I imagine it's similar to how places like Los Angeles and Miami changed between the 60s and 80s.
