It’s expensive now, but on paper after serial production of equipment is set up and distribution stabilized, it would present the option for lowest cost for internet in history, an expand satellite coverage to global reach.
Government is thinking about how great it’s gonna be to have the sole internet provider for the world based in the USA. Mind you Washington would be limited in how it controls Starlink, it can’t do anything blatantly partisan or arbitrary using the platform, or users would flee, but there are many more options for data analysis.
In practice, sole control over it would be about as enforceable as selective GPS: non-existent.
