>>22132479i started reading into this because of claire bringing it up, i'd recommend looking into the alternative model in the dsm-5 here is a great lecture by the guy who developed it:
https://youtu.be/4mgifm3ftl8understand the traits and facets involved in AVPD, gives a clearer understanding. Also makes it much clearer WHAT a personality disorder is (basically having really low scores in the big 5 personality model)
The main thing distinguishing it from generalized social anxiety disorder is basically: severity and the personality dysfunctional aspects.
For the normal anxiety related stuff normal social anxiety things can be effective (CBT, exposure mainly)
https://youtu.be/PdB4FR0L8aMhttps://youtu.be/Bm5Yg0CUfVEgood introduction on treatment for that. (basically do exposure in a way you are mindful of testing your beliefs as well as restricting post-event rumination)
There are also CBT workbooks for personality disorders and SAD that might be helpful

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6839665/I'd recommend trying to understand this study, just ask an AI what the different things mean.
When you understand the facets you can look up specific ways to improve certain ones.
For sort of "what sets avpd apart" is it's the sort of self concept stuff. I think I might have some issues with his so have been looking into it. The fundamental issue for that is
1) Making the negative self concepts explicit so you understand what they are (I dont have this) Some schema therapy stuff is what I've heard is good for that (and the personality disorder stuff)
2) Dealing with them (once they are explicit there are tons of studied ways of improving and resolving them)
so do 1 than 2, and in the meantime do exposure.
