just for the record... I live in a state where billboards, or large public ads, are illegal. you can only advertise a product/service in your business. I also use adblock while browsing the web and I don't watch cable TV.

so this isn't a problem for all of us. c:

All the chinese people that come to Japan still boil their water here. When I drank tap water they freaked out and said I was gonna get really ill and that I should go to the hospital quickly.

I drank tap water in hong kong and I was fine. Maybe mainland china is different though.

When I went to JP there were almost no garbage cans to throw your trash away in public. Does everyone hold on to their garbage there or something? Amazing how clean the streets were considering.

People don't generally eat while walking around here, they almost always sit down at a restaurant etc. to do so.

Convenience stores have trash cans and there are bottle recycling ones next to vending machines where I often see japanese people cramming small bags of trash into.

But there are drink machines everywhere. I finished a Kilimanjaro coffee at a train station once but couldn't find a single place to dispose of the empty can. I ended up tossing it onto the floor of a train just as the doors were closing to depart.
Other weird things in Japan: cream for each individual body part - elbow, shoulder, knee, wrist, etc; ATM vestibules closing at the same time as the bank.

ive never been outside canada but whenever i travel outside quebec it amazes me how every fucking intersection has a jug handle

it makes crossing the street really stressful, i always feel like im running across a damn highway.

also, how few trees there are on sidewalks. theres very little shade or protection from traffic. i always feel really unduly exposed to the elements when im in cities that arent quebec or montreal
