if you try to read between the lines and see how quickly he's getting out of his house again, i think he wants to skip the selling of his house process entirely. so by the time he comes back it's gone. that's why the ideal travel model for him is still 1 month away, 1 month home, but the initial japan trip is much longer at 2-3 months.
