but with insane rapid population explosion without the needed infrastructure the country was thrown into extreme powerty over last 100+ years, so the little the had got diluted more and now you have people with no houses, education, culture or any material wealth
if anything, it will be just as poor in another 20 years, with the gap between wealthy indians who work in IT and other fields exported there and the rest becoming even larger
