Another thing NYC used to be Dutch. And John is a very common name in Dutch, like English, except they spell it Janke. When England took it from the Dutch, they found that NYC was full of Jankes. This became Yankees.

Later still the Tea Bags applied it even to the Southerners, which is retarded, I could understand calling all Northerners Yankees, but not all Americans live in New England.
