i wouldn't buy food from target period. the turnover rate is too low, bought bread from there once and it spoiled in like 3 days. i don't think they get as frequent of deliveries as regular grocery stores.

why not get a motorcycle and a racetrack membership? might not be much cheaper but i've ridden in sports cars even higher budget than you're looking at and it's not really that fun. had more thrills on a bicycle. maybe i just don't get it though. fastest i've driven is like 110 though back when i was 16 and did a lot of dangerous maneuvers, that was enough thrill driving for me. some people certainly go faster, i hear it every night here where i live.

90% upside day today. crypto and biotech underperformed, with some exceptions however, i'm not smart enough to pick winners individually there, but arkg did nicely. i mention this because it would make sense to cool off a bit on monday, maybe buy up special corners of outsize growth like that which are undervalued. i may be playing with some labu or crypto etf's on monday. but as always, i'm 100% invested, trades will be cautious and high conviction, cannot afford to lose when i do that.

one time as a teenager i got really stoned and went to the de young art museum in san francisco, crossed the bridge but made a pit stop to take pictures, was in a photography class, developed them myself. i was feeling artsy and put on classical music. i heard this song for the first time and nearly crashed my car, almost gave me a seizure when it crescendoed, you'll know what i mean when you hear it, but it was the most beautiful feeling i ever had right at the 4:40 mark, don't skip there though, let it build. the museum was cool too, had a bunch of impressionist stuff up. memorable day. another time i cut class in 8th grade, had a project where we had to catch and pin insects, barbarism i'd never do now but for a time i thought it was cool, went down to the creek and waded through thigh-deep mud and spent 3 hours trying to catch a dragonfly, extremely agile and crafty creatures, they can fly in any direction and see 360 degrees.

The only thing I was thinking about after yesterday's slowpump on the worst consumer report in years, is if I'd derisk a little, as in close all shorts, and reopen less, or shift the ratio to more SPXL rather than SPX because shorting SPXL has the decay on my side. Should we dump quick though, shorting SPX would be more profitable on the other hand.

We'd need to go back up to 6200 for me to start sweating. I don't see a case for that either. I'm now more evaluating the situation of how far it can go down, how resilient this fakemarket is and if this fakeyness should lead to me shorting it more cautiously.

The report was a lot worse than expected and we were still green. Also didn't expect the market to already do 50% in the AH after close. But I've also said it in /biz. As a bobo you have 30 mins max for the bottom, after that it spikes up to then either go sideways or start crawling back up.

PCE is CPI + PPI.
Look february 13th, the pump on SPX. That was because of PPI. They thought because of that PCE/PCE core would come in lower, which it did with 2,5%/2,6%, but now that PPI has been revised up for february reading, that PCE report could also be revised up (like the jan reading)

And since Timiraos and co expect PCE core in 2 weeks to come in at 2,8% (by calculation like in jan and feb) even though this month's CPI core( 3,1%) and PPI core (3,4%) numbers were lower than the previous two months (3,3% and 3,2% for CPI core) (3,6% and 3,5% for PPI core (prerevision)), something specific in the PPI has to be responsible for a higher PCE core despite lower overall numbers.

picrel, seems to be pre PPI release. He lated had another comment (not post) about 2,8% PCE core.
Even in the CPI something specific can cause a higher PCE.

In any case, you now have to expect the market to react to CPI and PPI as if PCE was being released, cause now they are openly talking about that.

You realize people have jobs where actual value for goods and services are exchanged for money that they invest or gamble on the stock market. Money isn't actually created on the stock market, it's exchanged from one hand to another. When a stock dumps and gets shorted all that happens is the people holding are getting their wealth transfered to those shorting and the situation would be vice versa if the stock were pumping instead.

mentioned that it was a 90% upside day yesterday, meaning up volume minus down volume / total volume. these are rare and usually signal trend changes. lot of people posting evidence one way or the other but forget that the market is illiterate. it just goes up or down based on if money is hitting the ask or shares hitting the bid, and people overestimate the influence of minor players, the big wallet controls price action, market makers second, major institutions 3rd, retail doesn't effect things at all. i'm not saying it's definitely going up or has to go up, but the market just did something it usually only does when it's about to go up a lot. everyone is free to believe what they want and trade how they want however, but trying to convince people that the market has to do X because the inflation or the jobs or the valuations doesn't hold a lot of water for me, the market makes up its own rules on the fly. i'm not saying it is easy, just held stocks through a correction, but i also held them through several bull cycles. think it's a mistake to dump them here, and i'm optimistic about the future. then again tptb may be angry still, i respect that view, but again i think differently.

wanna go out today, but the weather is bad and i have some acne flaring up. might just stay home and try to sleep more and calm down, i had a wild and emotional week just watching the stock market and the thread, and normies are always having events and occasions and whatnot, no shortage of those. am bored though, and gym was difficult yesterday and not looking forward to it today, but otherwise holding up.

When their homes jump to 600k valuation, the property taxes are most likely between 1-2%, so thats between 6,000 and 12,000 a year. On top of state income taxes between 4-5%, and income taxes of 32-35% likely between federal income tax, social security, and medicaid.. Comes out to be 45-50% of income. Throw in a car to the mix and its easily over 50% in some states effective tax rate for mediocre services.

apparently december 18 was a 90% downside day. i might've missed it but i don't think i did, just didn't respect it. fine for me because i have so much intc and held quantum stocks at the time, my portfolio is higher than it was then, but i do hold a good deal of etf's too and some of them it would have been smart to liquidate and buy back here. but as you can see in the intervening time there were a lot of headfakes, and a lot of fomo fuel, but the signal played out, we are now much lower on the s&p then we were then. something to consider about this 90% upside day, we may go lower yet, but i wouldn't discount this signal either. i know this sounds a bit superstitious but so is belief in the yield curve inversion curse, which does bother me by the way but i am choosing to dismiss that.

acne is actually better than i thought, face just was a mess when i woke up. and the weather seems decent enough. gonna head out in a bit.
