Is your government banning VPNs? Or websites that allow to read opposite side? (tw*tter is a garbage platform but a good example) Or any encrypted chats/email? I need to use VPN to access tuta/proton and last time I checked, skiff was banned for organized protests(????)
By overpriced replacements I mean for example they ban spotify and soundcloud and force you to use yandex music that won't even let you listen to anything you want without premium. And it costs a lot. Same goes for shopping sites, ozon is replacement for amazon and their prices are high for actual products and not chineese garbage
welp, at least you have a good economic situation, right?

I feel like all countries are shit and it’s a lot of “grass is always greener”. I don’t mind living in the US, but often wonder where I’d be happier. It sucks when you grow up here and realize how cut off we really are from the rest of the world and it feels like there are so many missed experiences. Constantly trying to save face blows up into an exaggerated sense of pride with an overzealous ego. Combine that with the whole “separated from
the rest of the world” thing and no wonder everybody thinks we’re a bunch of loud, ignorant morons.

Same. I feel like I've missed so much by not only being born in a country that soon will become north korea 2 but also by being born too late. Like I've missed all the fun and now hate to live through "this" peroid of history.

Nah it's simply not the case, people outside of NA and western europe have it way worse. I have family in yugoslavia and have been to serbia/bosnia multiple times in the past 25 years and I can assure you we have it 100 times better than the people living in eastern european war-torn shitholes

No doubt there are many places that have it much worse off. I’m definitely content where I’m at, but still there is something eagerly compelling about having the experience growing up elsewhere. Hell, even a place in war-torn Eastern Europe seems to have a comfy allure. Though I know it’s probably just viewing it through rose colored glasses, I still long for a break from the commercialized world I’m currently stuck in. Capitalism is nice to an extent, but it’s almost like the Las Vegas feel. A lot of gold-plated cheapness providing a sense of luxury to distract from the true dystopia I’m in.

Our institutions are generally quite competent meaning though there's a fair degree of freedom, you will have a hard time breaking the rules.
Proton is useless here since Swiss authorities probably hold proton's balls.

As for overpriced stuff,they ban you from importing agricultural products, and force you to pay more than double for local stuff.

The economic situation is good, but it won't last long IMO: socialists everywhere, Europe raping us, old people asking for more and more gibs, taxes rising, people asking for inheritance tax (i hope this doesnt get passed before i get mine) and so on.

It's likely hundred times better than Russia, my Russian acquaintances assure me of that often enough, but in a few decades, we won't be much different from Germany. Thankfully I won't be around here anymore by then.

For the majority of people, this is one of the best countries to be born into, even more so a few decades ago. People like my parents are a prime example of that.
Just for my requirements, the path this country is headed for is not good and there are much better options.
