Most black people's exposure to anime was Shonen, to be more specific, Battle Shonen. Stories like Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Naruto were quite frequently spoken about and absorb by black kids at a young age. Those stories are popular among us for the same reasons why action dominates in the movie genre. Cool flashy fights + (sometimes)basic bitch story = entertainment. They're not deep and the messaging is easily digestible, any other nigga who tells you otherwise is either retarded or literally a teenager. It's more ingrained in our culture, hence why we are drawn towards it more than whites... I think? I see a lot of white anime fans who talk about shonen, but they don't really show it in their culture compared to other minority groups.
