You should give it a try anon. Not for the normiedom or getting the girls meme, but for yourself.
Start slow, ease your way up. The more you gain, the more inspired you'll feel and the harder you'll want to try, as long as you keep yourself as your own goal, and point of reference.
Eventually getting involved into some sort of sport helps too, as you start focusing your efforts in a different competitive goal. Try martial arts, or personal defense systems. I find those to be very rewarding.
Once again, always keeping you as your goal, not others.
