>>22539751I think, mostly, chatting with Americans online about how they live, how they work, and what is important to them.
Its almost always, no matter the context of the conversation, devolving into a question anout money. How much do you earn, what does thing cost. Like that is important. And then some strangely leading question about the freedoms we are lacking in Norway (lol). And the inane relationship with race, and a fanatical focus on gender.
There is also the context of International relations. Its inflamed right now due to the current federal leadership, but even before that US relations with countries seem to mostly be about what the US can take, or about projecting military strength. There have been exceptions, like giving aid in Ukraine, but even then it gets this sour tone when US politicians start spouting lies about how much is given, and how little everyone else gives.
Im not saying I think the US is a bad country. But now I think its just a country, with a over inflated ego, and whose people have some stranger cultural hangups.
