>>22694794> when you get older, it’s harder to do the same amount of drinking without being wrecked the next day. Within reasonable limits.**By the way, the reason I noted this is because, well … clearly alcohol isn’t the best or healthiest thing, but I feel if you’re going to ease into it, your late teen years and young adulthood are probably the best to do it. Enjoying that while you can.
>>22694802This can be true but I’ve always seen something biased and hypocritical in the way it’s expressed. I think the major thing is weed has been illegal in much of the U.S. for many decades now, only in recent years they went harder towards decriminalizing and even legalizing it in some states. But, anyway, from the law to society, education, parents, police, etc., weed is hence lumped with “all the bad illegal drugs you shouldn’t do.” But, since it’s much less blatantly and immediately harmful really than drugs like cocaine or crack, meth, opioids, adderall, benzos and various pills in general, etc., kids try it then go, “Holy shit, it’s not that harmful, they were lying to me and just being authoritarian assholes. Fuck D.A.R.E.!” Combined with the fact that, because of its former illegality in lots of the U.S., people were getting it from street dealers, and obviously these dealers could also be in the market for other illegal drugs. If they were already selling weed illegally, why not have the connections to sell shit like cocaine or opioids on the side?
That’s the sense in which weed is or has been a “gateway drug”, I feel. Made it illegal, so pushed people who want to use it to dealers selling illegal drugs, and that’s its own gateway.
