I realized that I actually got tons of time to indulge in reading as my recreational hobby while pondering whether I should read H.P. Lovecraft.

No textbook, it seems that I'll just have to immerse myself by reading my target language with a dictionary beside me.

it will be tough at first but gradually I'll need to use the dictionary less and less as I learn what all the most used words are

and thats why I have a hobby on the side when I grow tired of progressing at a snails pace, to give myself rest and recuperation before resuming later.

I finished reading and typing out the summary for "the house of leaves" on wikipedia and one thing I found interesting is that Navidson was reading "the house of leaves" in wherever he was at. I asked chatgpt about it because I wanted to know if "the house of leaves" was magical in its canon but it said "No," and it was actually just metafictional recursion or whatever.

Here is an excerpt that caught my attention in one of it's responses:

I'm pretty sure diacritics don't impact the english word at all beyond what like, aesthetics? I mean what american even understands what the diacritic marks above or below a letter even means to begin with? I don't. Only ESL foreigners would understand that.

That's just one of possible interpretations. I'm not saying one thing happened over the other, it's just that you see story differently depending on what you think is real.
