Pepe died around the same time we were trying to decide our mascot. This led some people to try and steal one of his other characters. Blepe was in the lead for a while, as was /bant/elope and... andy? I think. Then there was a thread last night and Mario got several digits, but the thread was trashed by a guy with an algorithm to auto-post.
Then, today, there was another thread to definitively decide, and once again, Mario got prime digits.
It's all up in the air. I'm on the side of Mario, and I'm biased, since I started it. I've always wanted to know what it's like to start a meme.
It's lackluster, sort of, but there's definitely pride in it.
