Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future
Are some of my favourite games. I played them on PS2. They should have been ported to Xbox, like Shenmue 2, which isn't bad either. Shenmue 2 has a bad camera for twin stick, so it's probabky fine with one. Skies of Arcadia might be ok. Unfortunately lightgun games won't work on anything that isn't a crt tv.
Shadowman is a favourite too.
I think the Voodoo 2 Sega was contracted to use was 3x better than the NEC GPU they used instead. If they used that they could have competed with the PS2. I liked the PS2 at the time I had it, but on consideration now it was no where near as impressive itself as the Xbox, but had some good games on it.
I'd rather Sega was still around now instead of Sony. For arcade stuff. Which is what games should be mostly. Fast, fun, insertion into the highest levels of things, made easy. Ni seperation from taking in to action. Thinking incorporated in doing, being. Pushed to do better. Get to experience the extreems humanity enacts and envisions.
Sony has had some great stuff done for them, but they have also killed them. They have a high quality aura, but a different kind of presentation. There might be a place for it. But it's not as clean and pure as arcade games.
I like serious. But maybe that's stepping back. Instead of all in. Don't have to lose it with arcade, but arcade needs to be inviting, for everyone. Kane & Lynch etc is for professionals.
