Were you ever 'that kid' who could never find a place to sit (comfortably) in the school cafeteria during elementary/middle school because you had no real friends?

Looking back on it now, how does it make you feel? Do you feel resentment?

I wasn't, but the times I was new at some place, I sucked it up and enjoyed my loneliness until meeting someone.
What I feel is nostalgy for more moments alone. There is so many people for christ sake.

I never went to recess and I always stay inside the classroom (since we dont switch classrooms, we just always stay in one place for all periods)

I dont eat usually. If I do, I just go buy and come back inside the classroom. I hate eating in the cafeteria and theres no one to sit with anyway. I had no friends to eat or hang out with so I stay inside the classroom

I just got so paranoid and hated the whispering bullying people do in school. They never bullied me directly but they do just sneakily and it made me so fucking terrified of everyone around me

But on the flipside, I loved the days I was always alone the classroom during elem and highschool days. I could just be staring and be dazing about shits with no one interrupting me atleast for 30 minutes. The solitude was really comforting. I could be easily as I want to inside without anyone looking

No, they didn't provide enough tables to allow for loners, everything was supposed to fit "at capacity". Once it hit high school, we were allowed to leave the campus(essentially skip the rest of the day) and anyone who ate inside at the cafeteria was a fucking loser or pretend "gangsta"
This was during the time "emo boys" became the sexiest thing to young girls

I feel bad only that I was so anxious and so low self-esteem that I couldn't return the friendly overtures I got from the good kids. I'm sure I came off as the cold, unfriendly one in their eyes. I missed oppotunities to have friends because I felt unworthy and incapable.

Up until the second grade I didn't really hang out with someone a lot. Somewhere in the middle of that year some dude caw to our school. He was one year older and a real bro, we clicked instantly and I started hanging out with him every fucking day. Now he smokes a lot of pot and he's kinda fucking his education up (not underage). Glad he's not taking benzo anymore though. He's still my best friend
