Mine was when I was nine years old. I grew up in a rural community that was 100% white, then in 2004 I went on a holiday to Legoland Windsor. Everywhere I looked I saw browns and blacks. It was a shocker, and it smelt (not to mention being stuck in the tube with them). I felt a deep insecurity that I'd never feel at home. All the propaganda from TV and education have never managed to dissipate it, and I've felt the same way towards mass immigration since.
Of course, 21 years later they've reached even my gentle home town. But it was a shocker to see even back then. What's yours?
