The issue is with breeding any two distant gene pools with tons of recessive alleles governing not just appearance but psychological traits. Maybe both people in OP are perfectly good genetically and as people, but if you mix the lines, you could potentially destroy the good traits that were products of breeding within their lines.

Have you ever seen a superior shepherd type of dog produced from a mix of a german shepherd and a border collie? Theoretically, you get working dog traits from the shepherd and the smarts from the border collie, right? Well, those dogs were bred with recessive alleles, so their mixture won't have the excellence of either.

It's definitely possible to produce good hybrids, but there are two things to be aware of:
1. One generation of hybrid vigor doesn't imply continued vigor in later generations.
2. What is the _rate_ of good hybrids vs bad hybrids, and is this an acceptable rate you're willing to live with?

Humans are of course not dogs. This was just an example to illustrate a point.

I'm not so much trying to say why mixing should never be done, as I am highlighting the realistic philosophy why it might not be a good idea.
