the B cluster big categories can basically be mapped on two dimensions:
- size of ego
- attachment to ego
now:
- narcissists: huge ego, huge attachment to their huge ego
- borderlines: diminutive ego, huge attachment to their diminutive ego
so there's a common point: both are overtly attached to their ego, and thus very hard to reform (I'm sure it's totally impossible for narcissists: borderlines can be managed, but only up to a point, and they'll relapse sooner or later, one way or another)
now, to be fair, there of course are inside comorbidities (there are crosses between those categories) and outside comorbidities (with disorders from other categories, particularly the cluster A, for cluster B specimens), which yield further subcategories
but to mistake a borderline for a narcissist is mentally hemiplegic, and thus retarded
