no, it's just like in that image i posted (outside unit), installed by an electrician. it's quiet and does not vibrate, pipes and cables go through the wall from the inside unit to the outside unit

i do have a window AC, the noise is pretty awful
there's one of those outside units from your image right outside my window, it's loud too

well, i guess a loud window AC is still better than sweating inside during the summer heat, right?
your parents' AC might be old and requires maintenance or then it's just loud by design, there are really quiet modern ones. mine's a fujitsu

it sucks having to choose one or the other
i gotta make money somehow

it works reliably & it's cheap to maintain, atleast
