Late-90's Metallica is also weird, let's just say you now remember Kirk hat his 'Goth' phase...
Metallica, for me, are the 1+2+1+1 albums.
Kill'Em All was recorded using a template for rock bands, by the label and studio. The band themselves were annoyed by that, so go ahead and crank up bass and treble, it's basically short of an officially sanctioned equalizer setting.
Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets were after they found significant commerical success; Lars had contacts to Denmark and a recordning company, so they worked out that issue.
Then of course, the missing bass in Justice.
Then the hard cut back to heavy/groove metal in the Black Album.
Then they lost me, although certain songs and covers are still great; it's not bad music per se? I don't know, is what I'm saying, it's just no longer the metal style I was listening to Metallica too.
Then I started smoking weed, and listening to... fucking everything, lol. But a lot of reggae, from the dancehall chicks, and oldies from the art-hoes.
All art-hoes love Beatles.
Ugh.
