Religion and religious figures aside for a second...
Considering the limitless gifts that are bestowed to a soul inhabiting a human existence, i.e. the senses, the potential to do good and to create, the mere sophistication of the internal organs, skeletal system(!!)... all of these things God-created and God-given in the Great Lord's infinite generosity... it becomes easy to see why a Hell was created, if only for the satisfaction of seeing ungrateful sentient lifeforms suffer, the other purpose being a divine Justice system because the Creator is by all measure transcendentally GOOD and just.
These are they who turn away from the Creator's splendor. They care not for any of it. They blind themselves to it and keep themselves in a state of blindness, willingly and by punishment. In their negligence they even rebel against it and seek to destroy the Creator's creation even when it is presented to them as a gift! The depth of such folly is fucking unfathomable even to the most advanced intelligence and then the concept of Hell begins to make perfect logical sense, since it already makes perfect sense on a deeper spiritually intuitive level.
It all boils down to a single question:
How much does one really love God, Creation and all that is truly Good?
