And one caveat with that is that we had systems in place to mitigate things like this. Women had networks of men that would screen men for her, to give her the best shot of ending up with a better, safer man.
But women systematically dismantled these systems so they can pick their own men. But women don't select based on what is the most stable, they select based on what is the most stimulating/exciting/attractive. Essentially, women pick their own men, select shit men, then get mad that the men they picked to impregnate them are shit.
If I were a father with a marriage-aged daughter, I'd pick a boring accountant that came from a good, stable family for my daughter. Because I'd wager he has a better chance of staying with her and dedicating himself to my daughter and my grandchildren. But I can't make my daughter do anything. Ultimately she is a free person that will make her own decisions and do what she wants. I can guide, but I can't tell her what to do.
We had societies that enforced marriage as a sacred duty, and to break that would bring you a ridiculous amount of shame. Now marriage is based on nothing but feelings. Don't FEEL like being married anymore? Leave. Fuck the kids, fuck the family, fuck him, the only thing that matters are you emotions today.
