no.
only someone who has never studied metal or classical from a music theory perspective and also who's knowledge of classical is limited to a list of maybe ten generic compositions, like bet 5th, wagner, maybe some bach and mozart then vivaldi and the nutcracker, would say such a thing.
The classical music cannon is vast, and your "classically influenced" metal is just repeating a set of pop culture tropes to create a facade of sophistication. Usually directed at misguided young adults who like the sound of metal and don't fit into the classical music world and failed at their childhood piano or violin lessons but want to "show" their music teachers/parents that what they listen to is still elitist enough to be apprecieted by the musical elite (it mostly isnt).
It's why "classical music teacher reacts to megadeth" type videos are so damn popular.
"black guy reacts to pantera" is litterally the same exact thing, but for those who grew up with black people instead of eurotrash.
symphonic, black, chromatic thrash, etc are probably the least classically influenced of all but most commonly trumpeted as being a classical equivalent or extension of it.
Listening to the bridge in master of puppets and then walking around saying its classically influenced is kinda like eating a wagyu hot dog slathered in truffle oil and calling it michelin star cuisine.
Jazz, noise, and experimental music is a natural progression of classical.
"classically influenced metal" is just a cheap imitation and rehash of classical tropes, it is not a natural progression or extension of it. The only "metal" bands that can be considered a natural extension or progression of classical are never mentioned as such, despite being heavily appreciated by actual classical musicians (rather than autistic techy low iq nerds who quit piano lessons).
Bands like sleep, YOB, death, sonic youth, sun0))), swans.
No chromatic modal shredding classical tropes there!
