If he doesn't, it'll be obvious he's lying, and the thing about lefties is they're the most common type of liars: they believe their own lies.
The more times you make them confront the truth and force them to become conscious for a second, the more time they spend looking at the cracks in their worldview and actively trying to seal them up, the closer they get to no longer believing the lies.
