Because this seems like it's not the industry but your tastes have shifted, even 10 years ago the industry was already a sovless hunk of garbage and the games people keep playing are now pushing 12+ years old and there's some NPC specimen that keep playing them for all those years. Or I shouldn't say some because it's most people that played games back then are still doing so. I personally have never really been able to get hooked to a game for more than a year, I've played some for longer like osu but that's because of the community around it. Now that I think about it, for as antisocial as I am I've only ever played games because of the communities, like Planetside.
