there is so much to unpack with Hasan shocking his dog. The man professes to be a Turkish Muslim Communist, but is none of these things, and his dog abuse summarizes it neatly.
The main tell is this-- Turks love animals. I have never seen a Turk mistreat an animal. Istanbul is cat city. Bored retirees feed roaming gangs of playful puppers, which, in any other country, would be a threat to human life. The Sultans built palaces for pigeons for ffs. When other LA streamers claim "Kaya is spoiled" they are _telling the truth_ as they omitted who spoilers the dog. Hasan's parents spoil his dog. Only he abuses it. This tracks. His parents are Turkish. He is not.
From here, it is possible to unpack the rest of Hasan's psychology. He is a Muslim, and is proud of it, but this makes no sense. He must be a secular Turk since he loudly dislikes Erdogan, who is the champion of Islamic Turkey. Secular Turks believe themselves superior to Arabs, hell, they believe themselves superior to Greeks and Serbs. There is no immediate reason for him to stress a Muslim brotherhood like the Pan-Arabs.
And his communism. No Turk or Muslim has any love for Communism. Turks are proud of their Imperial heritage. Muslims have a visceral hatred for communist Atheism. Clearly he has no true love for Communism either, he lives in a Los Angeles mansion dressed in designer clothing.
But at the same time, this man _must_ believe in his own character. It is not an act, or he would be among the best actors endowed by god, and if he were such a prodigy, Hollywood is right there to make him a star. Only a diseased mind could muster the narcissism needed to actualize such a profitable avatar of the imagination, but he is not insane. I think he is merely confused, and it is his American life which has confused him. This is the real reason he is lashes out at America, it is America who has turned him into less-than-a-Turk, less-than-a-Muslim, a heterogeneous ahistorical mystery meat with incoherent ideas.
