i experienced poverty in my late teens early 20s until i finally found stable income as i was kicked out of the house at 18, the bitch even tried charging me rent for slumming it in the garden shed
was basically sofa surfing and bench hopping on £30 a week EMA while studying at college and university
stuff i had to eat to get by was shit like stuffing mix with hot water stirred into it but without an oven i just had to put this warm stodgy uncooked stuffing mixture between two pieces of toast
there was also that time i ate a fish block, i don't know what it was, it was full of little bones and scales but it was a block of fishy something about 5cm by 5cm
there was also a time when i was living off frozen vegetables which i'd mix into some gravy granules and hot water and then drink like it was a smoothie or something
and i can't forget those savoury pancakes i tried and failed to make out of water, flour and some fresh herbs i stole from someones garden, ended up making extremely fishy hard tack which was dinner for a night
i even ate a slice of pizza i found on the street once, but it was full of grit and shit from the road so it crunched and ground in my mouth and tasted like dirt, but it was food
poverty sucked and so did starvation but i survived
i'm fine now, almost 40, haven't gone hungry in over a decade
however now i'm fat because i associate food with good thoughts, but at least i'm not addicted to anything else like drugs, cigarettes or alcohol so whenever i get stressed i nom nom nom
well whatever i made it which is why i'm fine with talking about it
