I lift weights multiple times per week, but I acknowledge that it is a Faustian bargain. To do it that much almost always means doing so at the exclusion of career advancement, making friends and connections, and socializing with other people who are career focused.
Lifting weights is a present-value investment. It's not forward-looking.
Every hour of your time doing it provides incremental return (strength and fitness) that ultimately and inevitably devalues to zero at a certain point in the aging process.
All that time and effort leave you with nothing in the end, at least not anything that you can pass down to your children or other people you care about.
