>>23664392I don't think OpenBSD is le bad, I'm just not sure security is the best argument for it, versus hardened linux
minimalism, simplicity, good documentation—these are solid arguments for OpenBSD
and it is secure, and (GPT is wrong here) it does find use in industry—in routers, firewalls, etc.
it's great at what it does
plus, some people just want Unix that isn't Linux, and that's absolutely fine
arguments against (for use as your daily driver) are smaller software libraries, poor driver support, poor support in general if you ever need to fix something, and poor performance
for my specific purposes, I incorporated some of secureblue's features into my custom image containerfile
>The goal of secureblue is to build a maximally secure Linux operating system by proactively increasing defenses against the exploitation of both known and unknown vulnerabilities, while avoiding sacrificing usability for most use cases where possible.because whilst security was a concern, I also like to use my computer for development, media, games, browsing, so I want CLion support, Proton support, proprietary Nvidia drivers, flatpak browsers, minimal bloat, a repo which is heavily vetted but reasonably up-to-date, and minimal fucking around trying to fix things or make them work
and when I do need to fuck around, it's nice to have Red Hat's huge ecosystem to tap into for help
a custom atomic image was a pragmatic choice based on my personal needs, ability, and experience
it was a way of making something close to my own distro, without actually having to make my own distro
