Hear me out…. What impact has the hunter gatherer had on society? Is this nomadic sort of lifestyle to be admired or admonished? It seems to me that hunters and their like are extremely resourceful. They are able to literally harvest meat.
Yes but what about the hunter who also butchers their own kills when compared to a hunter who pays the butcher and exploits their services for capital?
The hunter who harnesses technology and modern convenience and comfort seems to not be considered a “real hunter” in the eyes of others (both hunters and fairies alike). This sort of pejorative of being a real hunter reminds me of the “not real communism” argument.
Where do we draw the line as far as being a “real hunter” goes? Do they need to kill with a spear and walk barefoot in a loincloth in order to gain respect? Do they need to master using calls, scents, and other forms of camouflage? Do they need to use a drone to fly above the area they are hunting to spot their prey? Should they perhaps “stalk” their prey? Is fishing the same? Should fishermen have to only use live bait? Perhaps a fisherman should spear their fish? Is a loincloth required in this situation as well?
Where do you draw the line from the micro of simplicity to the macro of comfort and convenience?
I would venture to guess that the true hunter is one who has the cleanest kill and least amount of waste. Picrel is my deer blind. It’s very cozy.
