Why do we have to travel on our long boats and interact with people of other cultures? Why can't we just build a big wall and tell everyone who isn't like us to go away? Surely they won't band together and take us over, right? Surely a large empire that is willing and able to travel and trade with other cultures, learning from them like Algebra from Islam and gunpowder from Qin'na - surely a massive empire that is willing to make compromises with regards to their subjects' racial and cultural makeup won't take over our traditional, conservative people, in the end, right? Surely we don't need to set up colonies and spy on other nations, and marry their women in order to become part of their society, and deal with their people, try to educate them, and ask them for some labor in return, and not whip them unless they do something really bad.
Why can't we just play with our |_ 3 G 0 5 in our White playground all day?? Why can't the elves or spirits or Yahweh protect the wall around our White playground? Why can't we just sit on our asses doing nothing, and be served everything on a silver platter??
