>>23840334Actually, not a bad idea, considering how it's been de regulated, but I don't smoke. Guess I could use it for like, filler, fiber, paper or clothes. If it's available to purchase from seed in the farmer's market, I'll consider it. Thanks for the idea.
In return, I'll teach you a secret with the cucumber/melon family. So, one of the best ways to get a massive yield is to grow them vertically where the ovaries grow against gravity. Since they are mostly water, they will pool into being big fat thick boys; if you're worried about stem snapping, allow the vines to reinforce themselves or reinforce the stems with ties.
The neat thing is that you can shape the growth too, one of my favorite is the boomerang cucumber, by having the vines grow over a ledge. the stems and upper portion lay on a flat portion, and then grow over the edge to make a boomerang/L shape that looks like a gourd. When grown correctly, you can cut thin from fat, have stogie pickles, and gherkin pickles all from the same cuke. You can do the same with watermelon, and make gourd melons, or even square melons, but they take a little bit more finnicky adjustments, but once you realize "It's just mostly sugar water with fiber outside, you can essentially shape it however you want just like hot metal in a mold.
