It’s a pity that Asian fruit preferences have prioritized the visual appearance of fruit over the actual flavour experience; consider what happened to the Red Delicious Apple as a result of this. I’m old enough to remember getting those fresh at an orchard and they were delicious indeed, and now they’re mealy trash that looks pretty, because they became an export crop to Asia and they were sold as a luxury product prized for being pretty and gift able instead of for their real merits. Of course, we have superior breeds now like the Jazz or Ambrosia that I like better, but they’re not pretty, they just taste really good.
