Order some loose leaf tea from Asia and follow their brewing instructions.
Besides quality though, having your tea kept in an airtight container and away from other teas preserves the taste, and allowing some extra space for the leaves to expand as they're being steeped gives better taste.
With the generic loose leaf tea, you'd have to keep the leaves in for an hour or so before it gets bitter.
