Lots of neets study various things but they often lack the discipline and/or wider knowledge base necessary to cultivate true understanding of any given field or subject. NEETing isn't necessarily doing nothing, but it's more of a lack of a traditional path, than a path in and of itself.
I have met some very intelligent neets though. Personally I attribute the rise of neetdom partially to a perceived lack of opportunities or options, but mainly to a society and world that feels fundamentally foreign to the traditional and natural human experience and is only becoming moreso by the day. I think some people are just kinda stunlocked by it all.
Some people are just lazy assholes though. You know what though? I don't really give a shit about some guy getting given 500 bucks a month by the government all that much, frankly. It's not exactly a princely sum.
If we tossed every criminal into the sea and off a cliff we could subsidize neetery over night. My concern falls more in line with trillion dollar fraud and some such other things going on.
