why are westerners/middle easterners so obsessed with the myths from thousands of years ago? do you guys seriously believe in them?

to me, it sounds pretty dumb to let some ancient fairy tale control your personality and entire lifestyle, to be honest.

Hardly anyone actually believes that these dumb fairy tales are true. They pretend to believe in them because they're comforting delusions. We all want to believe that good people will always be rewarded and that bad people will always be punished. We all want to believe that life has order and meaning. Most people are not prepared to accept the truth, which is that evil usually wins and life is completely meaningless.

I'm religious and believe from the perspective of those who wrote the bible that they were expiriencing things supernatural but I'm a firm believe that everything that requires faith to believe will at some time be explained. Sometime's having a little disbelief is healthy and viewing the message in the story is more important than believing the story itself. Millions of people believe similarly to myself and thinking that all religious people are close minded idiots is not a fair assessment of all of religion.
