On January 16, 1995, the first episode of Star Trek: Voyager aired on the United Paramount Network.
I can remember when this was the "new" Star Trek.
I don't think I could every adequately express to the new generation out of just how much my generation was cheated. This show was actually intelligent and optimistic about humanity's future. Your generation's concept of quality television is a bunch of Zoomer kids riding around on bicycles listening to cassette Walkmen and playing 1980s music.
Science fiction is supposed to be an exploration of the human condition. Star Trek was literally all about exploration. Stranger Things could not be considered to be Science Fiction according to any definition of the term. It is 80s nostalgia combined with derivative Stephen King-style tripe which isn't implemented properly.
I strongly urge young people to give both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Voyager a chance. If you do, you will be a better human being for it.
