Right after, the next pope Pius IX, asked the Bishops if Mary was born immaculate, and then said that they bishops voted that she was. This was the first of three elevations of Mary to godhood. It was NOT from the chair of Saint Peter. I believe it was one of the secret agreements and is the opposite of what the Bible says in Matthew 16.
