"career" can just mean the totality/history of things a person has worked on, not even necessarily for a wage
there are plenty of ways you could possibly make a living by doing something with your mind and hand, that's all
there's a late-twenties-aged nigga who trades/breeds exotic fish from different stores or something, and he's able to make a living off of that
he has crazy aquarium setups at his house & esoteric knowledge, the pay isn't amazing but that's one example which came to mind for some reason...
i guess you could maybe use your time while on gibs to learn/do different things, even learning to cook or something
