Here's the setup. a camera points at a pencil about 0.5m away, behind the pencil is graph paper about 1.0m away.
Each of these 4 pictures is taken with increasing aperture setting.
Question: why does the appear to be "misaligned" around the pencil? in the last image the gridlines literally don't even touch! How can a camera "lie" like this?
If you know correctly and completely how cameras work then you should be able to answer this - it's not an unsolvable trick / setup / etc.
