Sri Lanka is an unusual failed state. Ceylon is the Garden of Eden, where virtually aything can grow. When the people overthrew the government, creating modern day Sri Lanka, they were impoverished. The UN sent all kinds of aid there including seeds for crops. The people ate all the seeds instead of planting them and continued to starve ... in the most fertile place on the planet.
