>>23854750>I'd rather see a full scale battle of a Japanese army versus a European armyHeavy cavalry gens d’armes vs Japan
Let’s assume they get battlefield fortifications like oda nobunaga vs the takeda
Ok, but the mounted heavy armor european knights are so op that they would just slowly walk around the obstacle with their horses, they don’t need to charge to beat infantry, and if the horses just don’t work they would just dismount
Japanese war was mostly archers (but they don’t use shields? Actual schizos) while Europeans were nearly immune to arrows, especially with shields (Japanese had nothing like the British longbows in draw weight)
So the main weapon of the samurai, their bow, would do maybe 5% casualties to the European army, if lucky, then they would just get annihilated by rows of halberds by crowds of guys wearing plate armor without any weakness
https://youtube.com/watch?v=K6qhERJlENIA lot of Japanese culture was also schizo rituals including in war
Miyamoto musashi was in large part So successful in Japan because he didn’t care about Japanese cultural norms, he wouldn’t respect ritual combat or procedures, he would show up late, insult his opponents, attack before the duel started etc, Europeans were more like that as well which just gives them yet another advantage in war
The Japanese were more suicidal and willing to die than the Europeans though so that would be an advantage, europe never had banzai charges or soldiers willing to die for the honor of their lord at any period, that’s a strength for Japan
