We had an assembly in school once where we were given buzzwords and had to rank them from acceptable to unacceptable and I kid you not 'patriotism' came after 'shoplifting' and not far behind 'female genital mutilation'. It's why so many Germans speak English or Denglisch. How can you stand up for your cultural/linguistic integrity of you take no pride in it?
The one thing Germans absolute love though, is being sanctimonious and virtue signalling, but most of the time it's all for show. Mucho sad desu.
