like, they're relatively easy monuments to engineer/construct, compared to other weirder shapes or even obelisks
it's similar to the argument which says shitty buildings at any given time will be swept away by nature, while only the more well-engineered masterpieces will last for centuries, but this might give the impression that there was a utopia a long time ago
i personally think things keep getting worse, but a bunch of cool buildings on its own isn't good evidence of that, is all
